Marriage Counseling

Couples counseling can be difficult enough to find and agree upon. For couples who feel as though their marriage is in trouble, couples counseling may be difficult for them to get the motivation to undertake, or the willpower to commit to. However, for people looking at the more specific genre of Christian marriage counseling, it can be hard to find specific counselors to meet the couple’s needs. Couples counseling with a distinct Christian focus can be particularly effective for Christians because it brings in a religious, spiritual basis to understanding one’s partner, and looks to God to give advice and, in a way, couples counseling. Moreover, Christian marriage counseling looks to focus the couple’s attentions on God so that less negative energy is directed at each other, and more positive energy is shared in love, both for each other and for God.

1. Retreat Christian marriage counseling

Couples counseling at a retreat can be a wonderfully effective way of holding Christian marriage counseling. Couples counseling at a retreat allows couples to become completely focused on each other and on their problems, all with the eventual purpose of creating a stronger, lasting bond. At a retreat, counselors are around at all times, so that any problems that occur in a regular daily schedule will eventually be noticed and addressed.

2. Group Christian marriage counseling

Group Christian marriage counseling is also an extremely helpful type of couples counseling, and often overlaps with retreat Christian marriage counseling. Group Christian marriage counseling is good because it allows couples to see how other couples are dealing with particular biblical principles, and lets others explain what aspects work and don’t work for them. This couples counseling often comes from other couples who are also having troubles, and so the exchange of information can actually be a mutual journey that multiple couples undertake together, and logically come to conclusions about.

3. Individual Christian marriage counseling

Individual couples counseling may sound like an oxymoron, but it actually refers to couples counseling for a single couple at a time. This type of counseling is great because it allows couples to open their problems in a more private environment, but also allows the couple to understand that God is with them at all times, even in this private environment. Furthermore, it allows Christian couples to work through their problems in a medium they already understand and can handle: prayer and religion.
